I love teaching at the Barkhamsted School. This is my 20th year here. Every year is new and different in some way. Every child is unique and finding a way to connect with every one of them is the best thing about being a teacher. I also feel very fortunate to work with such professional adults.
My certification is K - 6 and I have a Master's Degree in Oral Traditions in Education (the importance of the spoken word - storytelling).
Here's a little bit about my life outside of school. My husband and I have lived in the area for over 35 years. Our children are adults now and starting families of their own.
We love the outdoors & spend a lot of our time traveling, camping, hiking, gardening and observing nature. The photo above is a shot of the Teton Mountain Range & was taken in Grand Teton National Park. My favorite mountain is the one on the far right. Do you know it's name?
When I have any spare time, you can usually find me reading a book. I love to read! My favorite genres are fantasy and historical fiction, but I'll try anything if it's a topic of interest. Two of my favorite authors are Barbara Kingsolver and Cynthia Rylant. They write many stories about Appalachia - the region of the U.S. where I am from.
